Gone are the days of a crank handle to start your 4WD nor is a sail or oar available to replace a battery that won't start your motor on a modern power boat.

The demand on 4WD related batteries varies significantly from one user to the next. It is not right that most 4WD outlets have only one type of dual battery system marketed as “one size fits all”.

At Nimbus we are aware of different 4WD / Caravan / Camper Trailers / Motor Home setups. We have designed a range of 2 and 3 battery setups to ensure that the owner gets the best performance, reliability and battery life from their system.

Modern 4WDs like Prado and Discovery have temperature controlled alternator outputs. This is great for the original starting battery but means your auxiliary battery will not get a full or fast charge with a conventional “smart” parallel charging dual battery system.

To overcome this problem we provide a range of voltage boosted dual battery systems.

Batteries

Part of having a very successful Dual Battery System is using a type of battery with special charging features, eg; a standard wet cell deep cycle battery that has been run flat can take 6-8 hrs of engine running to fully recharge, an Optima dual purpose deep cycle battery will recharge from flat to 90% full with a 100amp charge in just over half an hour.
